Manchester United could swoop for Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic this summer if David de Gea completes a stunning move to Real Madrid, reports the Express.
It has been suggested that the future of Handanovic, who is a Slovenian international, is uncertain after he held talks with Roma last month, and now it appears that he could head to England's elite division.
Staying in Italy?
His agent Federico Pastorello has, however, hinted that the 'keeper could stay in Italy, but it remains to be seen as to whether he receives offers from elsewhere in the near future.
Speaking to Tuttosport, Pastorello said: “For now we are not talking about it, as he has a contract until June 2016.
“There were three very soft meetings with the Nerazzurri directors. What does Handanovic want to do? Well, he certainly loves Italy...”
It appears, though, that despite Handanovic favouring Italy's elite division, Manchester United could yet make a move for his services.
De Gea future
That seemingly all depends on the future of current No.1 David de Gea, though, with Real Madrid linked with a stunning £50 million move for the Spanish international.
De Gea, of course, is recognised as one of the world's best 'keeper after producing the goods for the Red Devils on a consistent basis over the course of the last 18-months.
If De Gea does depart, then United do have Spaniard Victor Valdes at their disposal, but he may well have to battle it out with Handanovic if the club secure a deal to bring him to England.
However, the Red Devils may well have to battle rivals Liverpool for the signature of Handanovic, with uncertainty surrounding Belgian international Simon Mignolet on Merseyside.
Mignolet, despite improving in recent weeks, has endured a torrid season this term, and it appears that Brendan Rodgers could look to replace him in the upcoming transfer window.
