The former Inter Milan star has been at the heart of Liverpool's recent resurgence, adding cutting edge finishing to his incredible bag of tricks, including a sublime winner in the Reds' mid-week FA Cup win at Bolton.

Barcelona forward Neymar is no stranger to Coutinho, as the two played together as youngsters coming through the ranks of Brazilian football.

Star player

The Liverpool website quotes Neymar saying: "He can be the star player in England. This season I think everybody in England is seeing how talented he is - and I know he has a lot more to show.

"When he has the ball at his feet, he can make things happen for himself and he can make things happen for other players. He is a very special player."

Coutinho has added a degree of consistency to his game and is now holding more influence in the outcome of games, evident with his pair of assists in Liverpool's 2 - 0 win over West Ham last weekend.

National plans

Neymar feels Coutinho will not only prove to be a big player for Liverpool, but also for the national team.

"The national steam is very strong, but the way he is playing for Liverpool, I'm sure he will be a big part of Brazil going forward."

Coutinho will be looking to continue his impressive form in the Merseyside derby with Everton on Saturday evening which would certainly cement his popularity with the Kop.
