Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has a problem with his strike-force, reports the Daily Star.
The Red Devils endured a tricky afternoon against West Ham yesterday as they left Upton Park with a point, but the club's strikers failed to produce the goods in front of goal.
Partnership
Van Gaal opted to start with Dutchman Robin van Persie and on-loan Monaco forward Radamel Falcao in attack, while captain Wayne Rooney had to settle for a role in midfield.
Youngster James Wilson, meanwhile, was an unused substitute, but Carragher criticised the duo of Falcao and Van Persie, insisting that they failed to find space against the Hammers.
In fact, Carragher even went as far as predicting that Falcao wouldn't be a Manchester United player next season, with the Colombian's loan deal set to expire at the end of this campaign.
Problem
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Liverpool man said: “I think Louis van Gaal has got a problem with his strike-force.
“I don’t see Falcao staying at the end of the season and it’s something Manchester United will have to address in the striking department."
“West Ham showed pace and energy through Sakho and Valencia in the first half to get in behind the United defence. But Falcao and Van Persie failed to exploit the same spaces.
“They were just jogging up field, especially Van Persie, ambling up and they didn’t cause a make-shift West Ham back four enough problems.
“When United were in the wide areas, Falcao was ball-watching and that made him easy to mark. He should have been running down the channels.
"There is not enough movement from the front two, there’s no sprint, spark or energy and that was in complete contrast to West Ham.”
Wednesday night
There's no doubt about it, United's forwards under-performed in yesterday's fixture, but they will be desperate to make up for it sooner rather than later.
In fact, United are back in action under the Old Trafford lights on Wednesday night as they play host to strugglers Burnley.
The likes of Falcao and Van Persie will be determined to make their mark, but it remains to be seen as to whether they will be handed a starting role once again.
