Manchester United's chances of pulling off an incredible cut-price deal to sign Borussia Dortmund superstar Marco Reus have been crushed, as he confirmed he has signed a new contract.

The Old Trafford club, reported as having started talks with the forward's reps last week, were among a host of European clubs reportedly jostling to sign the Germany international. But he has now put an end to speculation by confirming the new agreement via his Twitter feed.

Dortmund's desperation to get a new deal signed was sparked by a clause in his contract, revealed by rivals Bayern Munich, meant he would be available for only £20million in the summer - a modest sum for the clubs involved

It now looks as though Reus has shown his loyalty towards Dortmund by having the clause removed. Though it could also mean that he is getting a significant pay rise for another year before being sold for a far greater sum the years after.

Man Utd hoping it's third time lucky with Spain starlet

Old Trafford officials are determined to get their hands on new Spanish sensation Saul Niguez and have already attempted to sign him from Atletico Madrid in the past two windows - a third attempt is expected.

According to AS, scouts and moneymen at Manchester United have been very impressed with the 20-year-old midfielder and are plotting a third bid to add him to Louis van Gaal's squad in the coming summer.

However, Atletico are not keen at all and intend to give him a pay rise before the end of the season to try and get him to stay. Although his failure to break into Diego Simeone's starting XI has Saul concerned, as he wants more playing time.

Man United take first steps to hijack £18m Chelsea deal

According to the Daily Express, Manchester United despatched their top European scouts to run the rule over in-form Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, though have competition for his signature from Chelsea.

The Premier League rivals both had staff watching the Argentine and would have been impressed as he bagged a brace in a 3-0 win over Palermo in Serie A - new coach Roberto Mancini's first win after three straight defeats.
