Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has insisted that Angel di Maria is the quickest player at the club.
Speaking in his '60 Second Facebook Challenge, the Red Devils' skipper insisted that the Argentine international, who joined the Red Devils for a club record fee from Real Madrid this past summer, is the standout player in terms of speed at Old Trafford.
Di Maria over Valencia
In truth, Rooney's pick of Di Maria may well come as a surprise to a few fans with many recognising Ecuadorian international Antonio Valencia as the quickest player at the club.
Valencia, who in fact donned the No.7 shirt at the Theatre of Dreams before Di Maria, is known for his lightening pace, but it appears that Rooney puts him behind the man signed from the Bernabeu.
To the surprise of everyone, however, Rooney's fellow United centre-forward James Wilson recently suggested that defender Chris Smalling is the quickest United player.
At the time, as reported on Manchester United's official website, Wilson said: "We wear GPS tracking devices in training and they tell you how far you have run and how fast.
"Obviously there are players like Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, myself and a few others, but going on stats it is probably Chris Smalling. That is maybe not who you would think! But Chris has got a pretty good speed."
There's no doubt about it, the majority will disagree with Wilson, but he certainly seems adamant.
Di Maria and Rooney are key
There's no doubt about it, Manchester United fans will be hoping to see Di Maria produce his blistering pace on a regular basis throughout the remainder of the campaign.
In truth, the Argentine has endured an indifferent time at the Theatre of Dreams under the Louis van Gaal regime, but he will be crucial for the club as the season approaches its latter stages.
Alongside skipper Rooney, Di Maria can play an integral role in helping Manchester United secure qualification for next year's Champions League campaign.
Perhaps, then, Van Gaal should look to utilise Rooney in attack and Di Maria out-wide over the upcoming weeks and months. It would most certainly pay off for United.
