Football News

Barcelona provided a footballing masterclass in the first half of the game, but Manchester City can take hope to the Camp Nou as Aguero gave them a foothold in the tie after fighting back in the second half.

A lesson in football

If there was any doubt about the pure wizardry of Lionel Messi, one would only have to watch the first half of the game to see why he is considered the best Number 10 on the planet.

It was Messi who provided the cross in the 16th minute that led to Luis Suarez hammering home the opening goal. It was Messi who on the 30th minute dribbled and bamboozled four Manchester City defenders allowing Jordi Alba the room to lay the ball on a silver platter for Suarez's second.

The debate between who is the better player, Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo will continue on until the end of time but tonight Messi showed just why he is up for the contention of that title.

South American Spirit

The game was littered with the talent of South America and while Messi was pulling the strings for Barcelona, Sergio Aguero showed Europe why he is considered the best striker in the Premier League.

It was his determination and fight that gave Manchester City hope for the second leg as he grabbed City's only goal of the game.

Recent transfer news that Barcelona are even interested in the Argentine but for now, he is Manchester City's main main.

Hail Mary

Manchester City lined up with two strikers against Barcelona hoping they would provide more sharpness in their attack and it failed to deliver, Manuel Pellegrini will hope that come the second leg his squad will be ready to deliver a miracle performance.
