Hearts knocked 10 past a poor Cowdenbeath side which saw Genero Zeefuik score a three minute hat trick on Saturday.

Surprisingly Zeefuik’s three goals, two of them penalties, is only the third fastest hat trick in the history of Scottish football.

The hammering started on the 26th minute as Zeefuik converted his first penalty. Just a minute later the fans were jumping for joy again as the on-loan striker from FC Groningen had his and the Jambo’s second of the game.

Jubilation in the capital had just started as the hat trick was completed a mere two minutes later as Lewis Toshney conceded another penalty and received his marching orders. Zeefuik made no mistake in ensuring he was taking home the match ball.

The league leaders were not content in shutting up shop as they went for the jugular of the broken Blue Brazil.

Sam Nicholson got in on the act as just after the half hour mark Hearts were four up. Six minutes before the break Nicholson turned provider as Jamie Walker made it five.

The away fans that stayed for the second half would have wished they never bothered as Robbie Thomson in the Cowdenbeath goal had to face his third penalty of the game.

Morgaro Gomis stepped up and added another goal to the scoreline as it was 6-0 by the hour mark. Still, Hearts weren’t finished yet.

Alim Ozturk, Danny Wilson made it eight before Osman Sow chipped in with two goals of his own.

At 10-0 with 15 minutes to go the Jambo’s finally ended the misery of their visitors as they scored no more goals.

The huge win sees the Edinburgh side go 20 points clear of their city rivals Hibernian at the top of the Scottish Championship.
