Manchester United star Ander Herrera has hailed teammate David de Gea, insisting that he can become the best goalkeeper in world football.

As reported by the Telegraph, the Spaniard, who moved to Old Trafford this past summer, believes the Red Devils' No.1 is 'unbelievable', and could even be as good as Bayern Munich shot-stopper Manuel Neuer.

The best

De Gea, of course, has been in fine form for the Red Devils over the last 18-months or so, and this is clearly something that Herrera has recognised.

The midfield ace told the Telegraph:“David can become the best goalkeeper in the world. Maybe at this moment David is. Manuel Neuer doesn’t receive so many shots because Bayern (Munich) is much, much better than the other teams in Germany.

"Here in England, they test David and he makes fantastic saves. He’s also very good with the ball. When one centre-back passes the ball to him, he can change the play to the other side. Unbelievable."

There's no doubt about it, De Gea still has a great deal to prove, but he's certainly showing signs of becoming the leading 'keeper in world football.

United must keep him

One thing's for sure, Manchester United must renew the goalkeeper's contract as they go in search of long term success.

De Gea will continue to go from strength-to-strength at the Theatre of Dreams, so the Red Devils can't afford to lose him. Van Gaal and the Manchester United hierarchy must act sooner rather than later.
