LeBron James expect NBA to look at James Harden's below the belt kick

LeBron James believes the NBA are likely to look into James Harden's actions during last night's tense Houston Rockets vs Cleveland Cavaliers match up and, if you've seen the footage, you can see why.

Low blow

With tensions high throughout the close game - a match up that could easily be repeated in the NBA Finals - Harden allowed things to get the better of him when he found himself on the floor with the Cavs star towering over him looking for possession.

Desperate to keep hold of the ball, the Rockets man aimed a kick in the direction of his former Team USA teammate - connecting with LeBron's unmentionables.

As you might expect, LeBron James didn't take too kindly to the intrusion and now, as reported by Kristie Rieken of the Associated Press, the four-time NBA MVP has suggested the NBA will take a closer look at the 'play,' as well as admitting to being perplexed by Harden's actions on the court.

"That's not a basketball play and the league will probably take a look at it," explained James. I have no idea why he would do that."

James Harden was disciplined with a flagrant foul 1 at the time but, with the Rockets going on to edge the Cavs 105-103 in overtime and Harden grabbing 33 points in total, the Cleveland may be forgiven for ruing the officials' decision to keep Harden in the game.

The Rockets man himself, speaking in the aftermath of the heated contest, said he didn't expect to receive further punishment from the NBA going forward. One of LeBron's former teammates though, Dwyane Wade was suspended one game for a similar incident a couple of seasons back, so Harden might not be in the clear just yet.

Heat of the battle

There is no history of bad blood between the pair and in all likelihood it was simply a rush of blood to the head (or foot) in the heat of the battle on Harden's part.

LeBron may be expecting the league to take action, but even with a hit in the groin for his troubles the Cavs star couldn't fail but be impressed with his rival's performance throughout the game.

What do you think NBA fans? Should Harden be punished for his cheap shot, or is it simply one of those things when two top teams come together? Let us know in the comments section below...
