Spanish basketball game ends in an all out brawl

We all remember the closing moments of Super Bowl XLIX when the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks players engaged in a large scale riot right?

Well now two basketball teams from Spain have shown the NFL stars what a true sports related brawl looks like.

Last night LeBron James and James Harden both had big claims for fouls in the Houston Rockets win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, but maybe they should be happy neither of them play in Spain.

Basketball may be a non contact sport but when it comes to Bilbao Basket Laboral Kutxa of Spain's ACB league, that really isn't the case.

Sunday night the two teams went one on one but the players just couldn't hold back their frustrations as the clock called time on the match (as you can see in the video below).

Bilbao's Dejan Todorovic was the instigator after shoved Tornike Shengelia despite Shengelia facing the other way.

Shengelia didn't waste time in showing his frustrations as he went straight over the Todorovic and punched him straight in the face.

Anarchy descended upon the court immediately following the punch as every player then got involved in what can only be described as a riot.

Eight players were ejected from the game as a result of the incident that happened with just 7.2 seconds remaining on the clock.

Not a time to shine

The moment will obviously not go down as one of the greatest moments in basketball but the head coach of Laboral Kutxa had his say on the matter.

"for the sake of basketball we shouldn’t dwell too much on this." - Laboral coach Ibon Novarro on the incident at the end of the match.

A young fan in the seats at court-side unfortunately got tangled up under the bodies of the men who were involved in the chaotic scene.

There have been no rumours that the fan was injured but this is clearly the only good news to come out of the scene.
