Cat Zingano fluffed her chance in over-zealous start to Rousey fight

Cat Zingano was competing in her biggest fight of her career so far, but in the eyes of many, including herself, it didn't all go to plan.

Zingano now sits with nine wins and one defeat by her name, while Ronda Rousey continues her unbeaten streak with 11 victories.

In the UFC 184 main event on Saturday night, reigning champion Rousey came up against her competitor in what was anticipated to be a feisty and compelling battle.

But by the time fans were able to take their seats, the battle was over as Rousey's armbar submission after 14 seconds sent the 32-year-old to tap out.

Too Eager

There was a lot of hype leading up to this fight and that was what probably set the Bantamweight to go in all guns blazing, as the female fighter ran straight into a grapple before Rousey took control.

This was the quickest win Rousey has ever claimed and it was sheer embarrassment for Zingano.

It may be harsh to claim she ruined her chance, but maybe the whole atmosphere pushed Zingano to have a 'rush of blood to the head' moment.

All the preparation and hard work in the build-up to show what she could offer, and hopefully give Rousey a challenge, seemed to just vanish into the atmosphere of the sold-out Staples Center.

The UFC fighter maybe should have composed herself for the first minute, just to calm down, relax get to know her surroundings; as who knows, we could've been talking about something completely different in relation to this fight.

Zingano clearly felt she had earned her chance at Rousey and wanted to show the fans bbut there was no underestimating the very impressive Rousey and what she is capable of.

Known for her quick knockouts and short matches, the 28-year-old continues to show that she has so much to offer not only for the sport but for other females looking to take up the sport. A true role model.

Who can stop Rousey?

That is the question, because every time Rousey has stepped into the ring she has seemed more composed, knowledgeable and stronger with every punch thrown or submission logged.

Also, at the age of 28, the Bantamweight can only go on and achieve so much more. Some are even touting her to take on some of the male contenders of the sport.

There is even rumours that Rousey offered Zingano a rematch after the encounter, but it may be too soon for that as Zingano may want to fight Alexis Davis, Bethe Correira or Sara McMann just to regain a bit of belief in herself once more.

One thing for sure is that Rousey is looking indestructable every time she steps into the Octagon, and we may be looking at an icon of the sport.
