Chelsea to allow defender to leave Stamford Bridge

Chelsea will allow Andreas Christensen to join a Championship club on loan as long as the party is willing to pay the entirety of the defender's £22,000-a-week wages. The Denmark U21 international has been tipped for a bright future at Stamford Bridge, but with his route to the first-team currently blocked Jose Mourinho is ready to let the player leave west London on a temporary deal. However, Christensen's prospects of securing a short-term switch have been hampered by his extravagant salary, with few clubs able to afford the 18-year-old's high salary in the second tier. It remains to be seen whether the Blues would be willing to renegotiate those terms, depending on the possible opportunity that presents itself to the talented young centre-back between now and the end of the season.
