A picture Arsenal fans will be glad to see - Jack Wilshere back on the road to recovery.

The midfielder took to Instagram on Tuesday lunchtime to post a picture of himself and fellow team-mate Mathieu Flamini with the caption 'Gym day with my French boy #LetsGo #Boss'. The England international has been out since November, after injuring his ankle in the 2-1 defeat against Manchester United at the Emirates.

injuries rife

Flamini has been suffering from a hamstring injury and is close to return but Monday's 2-1 victory over United in the quarter-final of the FA Cup came too soon for him. There are hopes within the club that Wilshere could return in time for next week's Champions League second-leg tie against Monaco.

Wilshere has been involved in some controversy in the last year. In February he was caught smoking a shisha pipe in a London nightclub. That came after he was forced to apologise in the summer of last year when he was again caught smoking, on that occasion it was a cigarette whilst on holiday.

Troubling times

There has been reports in recent weeks that Wenger has run out of patience with Wilshere, citing his smoking habit and long list of injuries as a serious worry. There is no doubt Wilshere has incredible talent, but at 23 years of age time seems to be quickly passing on the one-time England saviour.

Midfield issues

Meanwhile Flamini is in his second spell at the Gunners. He originally joined the club from Marseille in 2004 before moving to AC Milan four seasons later. He returned to the Emirates in 2013 on a free transfer and since then he has provided a strong screen for the defence when needed. However his place is under serious threat due to the emergence of Francis Coquelin, man of the match in the win at Old Trafford.

Wilshere's place is also no longer assured either. Santi Cazorla has been exceptional this season whilst Alexis Sanchez is virtually a guaranteed starter and Mesut Ozil covers an incredible amount of ground for the team.

It is a selection problem Arsene Wenger will want on his hands. Let us know your thoughts on who should start in the comments box below...
