Football News

Speculation has continued to mount regarding the future of Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, despite the Citizens' boss stating he is not under any pressure to win the title this season.

It will come as something of a confidence boost to the Chilean that, according to a poll conducted by the Manchester Evening News, the fans are firmly behind their boss.

Poll results

When asked who they would like to see in charge at the start of next season, Pellegrini topped the poll with some ease. He even managed to get ahead by a clear margin over much talked about potential successors Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti.

The results went as follows:

  • Manuel Pellegrini 44.8%
  • Pep Guardiola 28.4%
  • Carlo Ancelotti 11.9%
  • Diego Simeone 10.4%
  • Jürgen Klopp 4.5%

City fortunes

The Blues have not performed as well as last season, which led many in the media to speculate whether Pellegrini would be the man at the helm next season. The fans clearly feel the former Malaga boss is still the right man for the job though as the club prepare for what could be a crucial week.

Trailing in the title race to Chelsea and having a 2-1 first leg deficit to overcome in the Champions League, this could be a very important week in City's season and perhaps decide Pellegrini's future.

City fans, do you think Pellegrini should be kept on at the Etihad, or should he be replaced? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box below...
