Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that Arsenal are still in the race to win the Premier League this season.
As reported by ESPN, the Blues chief, who watched his side drop points to Southampton on home soil yesterday, has suggested that the duo of Manchester City and Arsenal could still win England's elite division this term.
Chelsea in postion
Chelsea, of course, have a strong lead at the top of the league, with Mourinho's side as many as six points clear of Manchester City with a game in hand on their rivals.
However, the Chelsea chief isn't getting carried away and believes that there is still a long way to go as his side go in search of a domestic double.
Arsenal in the race
Speaking to reporters after yesterday's clash, Mourinho stated: "Of course Arsenal are in it. They are seven points behind Chelsea, but have one less match to play than Chelsea.
"Both City and Arsenal are in the title race. It depends on the momentum for Arsenal - the 3-1 defeat against Monaco or the 3-0 win against West Ham?
"So the danger is always there. But I keep saying, we are there. If someone had told me in August that, at the end of March, we'd be six points in front with a match in hand, I'd have signed for that immediately.
"There are two perspectives. One perspective is a draw at home to Southampton is not a good result. For me, that perspective is very acceptable.
Chelsea in the driving seat
"The second perspective is we had a lead of five points from second, and now it's six points with one less match to play."
There's no doubt about it, Chelsea are certainly in the driving seat, but Arsenal have been picking up a great deal of momentum in the Premier League of late.
In fact, Arsene Wenger's side are the most in-form side in the division, but it would take an almighty fightback for them to overturn the Blues' lead at the top over the coming weeks and months.
It's Chelsea's to lose
Mourinho may well insist that the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City are still competing for the title, but it would take a huge change in fortunes for the Blues to end up empty handed in May.
Chelsea are certainly in the driving seat and despite a few struggles of late, they should have more than enough about them to secure the title sooner rather than later.
Arsenal are certainly looking good on the domestic scene, but their early season troubles may well come back to haunt them, while City are failing to produce the goods on a consistent basis. Mourinho should get his hands back on the league title in the near future.
