Frank Lampard could leave Manchester City this month

Frank Lampard could decide to leave Premier League champions Manchester City at the end of the month after becoming frustrated at a lack of opportunities at the Etihad, reports the Daily Mail.

Despite starting for the Sky Blues in the club's 3-0 victory over West Brom yesterday, the former England international has been used sparingly under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini.

MLS switch

And now it appears that Lampard could move to MLS outfit New York City sooner rather than later.

Despite previously committing his future with Pellegrini's side until the end of the campaign, Lampard is seemingly open to the idea of moving to the MLS in the next few weeks.

With City of the FA Cup and Champions League, it remains to be seen as to whether the club will allow Lampard to depart the club or whether they will keep him as they go in search of overhauling his former club Chelsea at the end of the season.

Lampard should stay

It's not entirely surprising that Lampard is considering his options, but he may as well continue his stint on English soil for the remainder of the campaign.

He may have not played as often as he would have liked in recent time, but he could yet play an important role in the Premier League showdown.

Despite Chelsea's lead at the top of the division, Lampard and Co. will still believe they have enough about them to overtake Jose Mourinho's side.
