Newcastle fans have had very little to shout about this season. The emergence of Spaniard Ayoze Perez has been a glimmer of light in what has been a dull season for The Magpies. Perez has far from the most impressive goal scoring record, but he is an exciting you striker who is attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in England.
Perez has just 5 goals in 28 league appearances this season. His poor strike record however has to partly be down to Newcastle’s general play. They have struggled to create clear chances for their strikers, and although players like Cabella are starting to perform for Newcastle, their failure to get a good run of form consistently under both Alan Pardew and John Carver have left them stranded in mid table.
Newcastle fans may have more to worry about than finishing outside the Europa League places however; with Manchester United and Arsenal both being reportedly interested in their young Spanish striker. Although Perez has not enjoyed a 2nd half of the season, Newcastle will hope Perez is at St James' Park for next year.
Louis Van Gaal and Arsene Wenger hope to replenish their own attacking line ups by luring Ayoze Perez away with European football.
Manchester United have not had a star man in their attacking line up this season, with Van Persie and Rooney unable to replicate form of previous seasons, as well as new men Falcao and Di Maria failing to get out of 2nd gear all year. Dutchman Van Gaal may look to the Spanish youngster to lead the line for the Red Devils in the years to come.
In terms of Arsenal, Wenger has not had a typical 'World Class' striker since Van Persie left. Giroud is a vital player to the Gunners cause, but many Gunners fans believe that he does not have the quality to provide Arsenal with a geniune title push. Although Perez currently is not that person, he is a natural finisher and in a fer years, could be just the player that Arsenal need.
