Paul Merson baffled by Roy Hodgson decision

Let’s face it, Ashley Young has basically carried Manchester United this season. He’s the reason they’re in second place, his one goal in the Premier League speaks volumes over his importance in the squad and it’s practically blasphemous not to have him in the England team. Before you get the knives out that’s not the view of GiveMeSport, but former Arsenal star Paul Merson. In his column for Sky Sports Merson implied he was baffled by Roy Hodgson’s decision not to include Young in his team for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers, and said the 29-year-old had essentially carried Louis van Gaal’s side. We know. We’ll just leave that there. Moving on swiftly Marouane Fellaini has picked Eden Hazard as the player he thinks is the best in the Premier League. The pair are international teammates, which might have had something to do with it, but we’re not going to challenge him on this one.
