UFC forced to issue statement as Rousey WWE speculation escalates

The UFC have today issued an official statement via social media rubbishing speculation that female star, Ronda Rousey, has any sort of deal in place with the WWE moving forward.

Rousey role

The statement, which can be read below, comes after Rousey made a shock appearance at WrestleMania 31 - partnering with The Rock to go up against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.

Since then, speculation from within the WWE Universe had suggested that Rousey's Mania début could pave the way for future appearances. The UFC have today attempted to put an end to such rumor.

The following message was posted by the UFC's official Twitter account earlier today:

Rousey has spoken fondly of the WWE in the past and Sunday night's showing proved that she is capable of transcending the UFC world - from the Octogon to the pro wrestling ring. Unfortunately for WWE fans though it looks like the UFC are hoping to close the door on any repeat before it gets out of hand.

WrestleMania role

When Ronda Rousey leapt from the ringside crowd at Levi's Stadium to partner up with The Rock it was yet another highlight in what was a knock-out WrestleMania show.

At times toying with Stephanie McMahon, her performance led to suggestions Rousey may become involved in a longer running feud with the WWE boss and her husband Triple H. Some even suggested there were plans for McMahon and Rousey t go head to head at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas next year.

Now though that dream appears way off with Dana White and co attempting to return the Rousey focus back to her achievements in UFC.

Growing apart

That the UFC allowed Rousey appear as a "one-off" is surprising enough. There has been long running tension between the MMA promotion and the WWE with CM Punk's switch and Brock Lesnar's future both helping grow the divide.

But, whilst the statement today doesn't look good for those hoping to see more of Rousey in WWE, we all know things can change in this business.

With Rousey continuing to dominate in UFC whilst improving her acting chops in various movie roles it would be a shame for her not to be able to make another WWE bow when the big shows roll around.
