Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson still believes the duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are out on their own as the world's best players, reports the Mirror.
The retired legendary manager, who played a huge role in the career of Ronaldo, has, however, backed Brazilian ace Neymar as the man to challenge the duo as the next top name in world football, but has insisted that he's not quite at their level yet.
The best talent
And Ferguson has highlighted his former club, as well as the trio of Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid as teams who can bring through the very best talent.
Ferguson claimed: “You'll always look at clubs like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United to produce that kind of player you're talking about,” said Ferguson.
“But to be honest I'm not sure there's one sticking out at the moment. The boy Neymar gets a lot of publicity about the potential he's got, but I think that's still to be seen, still to be fulfilled.
“Certainly, most people I speak to speak highly of the boy. When I had Anderson at United, he spoke volumes about the boy's ability.
“So hopefully he'll be the next one who'll produce the type of talent we see in Messi and Ronaldo.”
Of course Ferguson is right. At the end of the day, Messi and Ronaldo have broke several records over the course of the last few years and they still appear to be at the top of the game.
There's no doubt about it, Neymar is certainly talented and will no doubt go on to prove himself as one of the leading forwards in world football, but he must continue to learn from Messi and Co.
Ultimately Manchester United fans will be dreaming of a Ronaldo reunion this summer and he would no doubt help them challenge for silverware sooner rather than later.
