WWE officials unhappy with Hall of Fame ceremony

The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is a night where the legends of the business are honored and rewarded for all they have done, and on a night which should be enjoyed it looks as if the WWE officials aren't happy with the ceremony as a whole.

This year we had nine inductees in ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage, Rikishi, Alundra Blayze, Larry Zbyszko, Tatsumi Fujinami, Kevin Nash, The Bushwhackers, Arnold Schwarzenegger was inducted into the celebrity wing whilst Connor ‘The Crusher’ Michalek was the first recipient of the Warrior Award.

Despite plenty of legends on show, great speeches and an entertaining evening in general, it still looks as if the WWE were still upset at a number of things.

PWInsider have reported that WWE officials felt the show ran far too long, reaching four hours and they also felt that the show wasn’t exciting enough. The fact that the show was running longer than expected, the likes of Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair were requested to shorten their speeches.

As we saw with Shawn Michaels, he actually tore up his prepared speech and some of the things he said didn’t sit well with WWE management either. He spoke from the heart whilst inducting Kevin Nash and the thing that made the management unhappy included Shawn Michaels using the words ‘strap’ and ‘wrestler’, something that is frowned upon.

They were also upset over his comments regarding Kevin Nash and the fact that he changed the business with guaranteed contracts. Vince McMahon was said not to be happy with this, because the feeling back then was that WCW was trying to put the WWF out of business, something McMahon took personally.

WWE management were also said to be upset with Alundra Blayze’s speech. Although it was refreshing and entertaining to watch as fans, it is being reported that her cursing wasn’t welcomed and neither was the fact that she continued to put over Eric Bischoff.

The company did however love the speech from The Bushwhackers which is being called the best of the night, as it was the perfect mix of their on camera characters and that they were telling old stories in a manner in which only they could, complete with the face-licking.

There was also a lot of talk surrounding Rikishi and his Hall of Fame speech, and the fact that he refused to acknowledge his former partners Scotty 2 Hotty and Grandmaster Sexy when they were a part of Too Cool.

Scotty mentioned this on Twitter and the reason for Rikishi not thanking them was because of a booking issue and its being said that Rikishi didn’t want the two anywhere near the Hall of Fame ceremony.

There was also talk a short while ago that Kevin Nash would be inducted into the Hall of Fame as Diesel, but as we know that didn’t happen unlike Scott Hall last year who was inducted as Razor Ramon.

The reason for this is because Nash wanted to be able to use the credibility of being a Hall of Famer in the WWE for future projects which would only work if he was inducted under his real name. Along with this, Nash didn’t want to be inducted as Diesel because as Diesel he was one of the worst drawing WWE Champions in history.

If that wasn’t enough news and rumours for this year’s Hall of Fame, it’s also being reported that Scott Steiner was banned from the event with his picture in the office and security on high alert to not allow Steiner into the building, an issue stemming from an incident with Hulk Hogan’s wife on a plane.
