Real Madrid are plotting a shock £70 million move for Manchester City superstar Sergio Aguero, according to talkSPORT.

The Argentine almost moved to the Bernabeu in 2011 from city rivals Atletico Madrid, before completing his transfer to the Premier League for £38 million.

Club president Florentino Perez has remained a fan of the player and could sanction a move for him this summer and take advantage of Barcelona's transfer embargo.

The 26-year-old has hit 17 goals in 28 Premier League appearances so far this season, as Manchester City look to defend their domestic crown.

Aguero famously scored the goal against Queens Park Rangers that won City the title on a dramatic final day in 2012, and has been adored by the Citizens fans ever since that day, going down in Etihad folklore.

City do not need the money, but Madrid are hoping to lure the Argentina international back to Spain by persuading him that he has more chance of winning major silverware there than in Manchester.

Madrid won the Champions League last season, beating Aguero's former club Atletico 4-1 in the final after extra time.
