Cristiano Ronaldo booked for diving - and it's harsh

Football News

Cristiano Ronaldo has a reputation for going down too easily - it's one he's had since his time in the Premier League.

And it did him no favours tonight as Real Madrid faced Rayo Vallecano in La Liga. The Portuguese superstar was booked by the referee for what was perceived to be a dive - safe to say Ronaldo was not impressed.

It was definitely a harsh decision as Ronaldo raced through on goal, only to check back when a Rayo Vallecano defender slid across to block him.

Ronaldo's cut back saw the sliding defender wipe him clean out for what looked like a stonewall penalty.

The referee did blow his whistle, but rather than point to the spot he issued a yellow card to an incredulous Ronaldo.

The look on his face said it all...

Take a look at the dive…

The former-Manchester United star went on to open the scoring for Real Madrid in the 67th minute, guiding home a cross after an excellent run from right-back Dani Carvajal. James Rodriguez made it 2-0 shortly after.

What do you think - was the referee right to award a yellow card to Ronaldo or was it a harsh decision?
