Serie A duo Inter Milan and Juventus are both monitoring Robin van Persie's situation at Manchester United, with the latest reports claiming they are ready to offer him £5 million to leave the club, according to the Daily Mail.
The Dutchman has continued to struggle with injuries throughout this season and Louis van Gaal is reportedly fed up with his countryman after failing to impress.
Injuries and Wage
Another major factor with Van Persie's future is his massive weekly-wage. The striker is currently earning roughly £250k-a-week, making him one of the club's highest paid players and also one of the highest paid footballers in the world.
Due to regular injuries, Van Persie has been limited to first-team football this season and Van Gaal is not ready to pay his weekly-wage ahead of next season.
The 31-year-old currently has 14-months left on his contract, but, according to fresh reports, United officials want him out of the club this summer so that they can spend his weekly wage elsewhere.
Van Gaal is expected to have a busy summer once again this year, with defensive reinforcements top of his agenda. It's said he feels selling Van Persie could help the club as a whole due to his whopping wage.
In Van Persie's contract, he is owed £10m as a loyalty fee and officials at the club are ready to offer him half of that in a lump fee to leave the club.
Serie A Interest
If the Dutch international does choose to leave United for the Italian league, he would have to take a significant wage-cut, with no Serie A side available to match his £250k-a-week contract.
Van Persie has suffered with injuries his entire career, but it looked like those days were behind him during his last season at Arsenal and his debut year at United. However, this season has been one to forget for the Dutchman as injuries once again cut short his campaign.
Both Inter and Juventus are in the market for new strikers as they both fear losing their star-men up front. Carlos Tevez is expected to leave for Boca Juniors at the end of the season, whilst Mauro Icardi could leave the San Siro with Chelsea interested.
