Ilkay Gundogan is a player who posses a lot of qualities. He has a fantastic technical ability and has shown his quality over the last few years in Dortmund. At just 24, Gundogan shows a lot of maturity in his game; he is very good at his defensive role and offers loads going forward also.

Gundogan has been with Dortmund since 2011, and has been a very important in the heart of Dortmund's midfield.

With the form of Borussia Dortmund this season, many people are expecting some of their star players to be moving away from the Westfalenstadion. Players like Mats Hummels and Marco Reus have been linked with a move away from Dortmund, and now Ilkay Gundogan has been added to list of players linked with a move away.

A defensive midfielder is something Arsenal have not had for many years. Since the turn of the year, Francis Coquelin has been the answer to Arsenal fans prayers. A commanding defensive midfielder who has been the stand out player in his position in 2015.

Defensively, Gundogan is not as aggressive or imposing as Coquelin, but he brings a technical ability and passing range that would fit Arsenal's style of play.

Although Coquelin is very much a fan favourite right now, the opportunity to acquire a player of top quality would be too good to miss.

A bid of £18m has reportedly been rejected by Dortmund. It is believed that Arsenal will launch another bid for Gundogan this week looking to secure the German on a long term contract.
