Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that a doorman told him misguided team news ahead of the club's Premier League showdown with Manchester United this past Saturday.
As reported by the Mirror, the Blues tactician claims that the doorman of the hotel where he was staying at told him that dominant midfielder Marouane Fellaini wasn't going to be in the United side for the fixture.
Tickets from Hazard
In fact, the doorman insisted that Fellaini had turned up to the hotel asking for tickets left by Blues superstar Eden Hazard.
Mourinho, of course, had been plotting how to stop the in-form Belgian ace throughout the course of the previous week, so the news from the doorman would have certainly came as a huge surprise to him.
The Blues boss wasn't quite sure whether to believe it, however, as he's revealed that he opted to google Fellaini's brother, which ultimately cleared things up.
Don't believe the doorman
The man who entered the hotel was in fact Mansour Fellaini - the lookalike brother of Marouane. Speaking about the incident, Mourinho told reporters: “I came down in the morning and the doorman said, ‘Fellaini isn’t playing’.
“The doorman asked him, ‘What do you want here?’ He said, ‘I’m Fellaini and I’ve come to get tickets from my friend Eden Hazard’.
“Didn’t smell well for me. I go to Google on my phone and I put in Fellaini brother. The guy is the same.
“So I go with the pictures to the doorman. I say, ‘This one or this one?’ He looks, ‘This one’.
“F*** off, he’s the brother”.
Ultimately, Fellaini played from the start at the Bridge on Saturday, but Mourinho put together quite the plan to stop him in his tracks.
Youngster Kurt Zouma enjoyed a fine game in direct opposition to the Red Devils man as the Blues secured a crucial victory over Louis van Gaal's side to take on step closer to the Premier League title.
There's no doubt about it, there was nothing fancy about Chelsea's performance on Saturday, but they got the job done in typical Mourinho style. In truth, at this stage of the season, it's all about points, so Blues fans will no doubt be overjoyed with the result.
Chelsea have most certainly been the standout team of the campaign, and they will take some stopping next season, too.
