The Houston Rockets are 1-0 in their play-off series against Texas rivals the Dallas Mavericks and it was all thanks to an entertaining game on Saturday night.

Houston won 118-108 on Saturday night and took game one of their first play-off series.

The NBA play-offs have already given us some great moments and performances and the Texas derby wasn't any different.

Houston's star man James Harden was on point once again as he finished the game with 24 points and 11 assists to help lead the Rockets to victory.

Dirk Nowitzki was the key man for the Mavericks as he scored 24 points with eight rebounds, but arguably his best moment came after the match.

Nowitzki was facing the media after the match and was quite understandably and visibly frustrated by the defeat.

Nowitzki never launched a verbal attack on anyone in particular - largely because he couldn't, but the Dallas power forward instead took to physically abusing a microphone.

The microphone in question was hit, slapped and thrown around by the NBA star in what proved to be yet another watch able moment for the German player.

Nowitzki's attacks on the mic became more and more violent and perhaps the biggest irony behind it was that most of the time, the mic was working.

It all ended well however as the Mavericks star was able to laugh about the incident along with the multiple media personalities present.

Too much to overcome?

The Mavericks are going to need to win the series the hard way after going 1-0 down on Saturday night but not all signs are bad for them.

Saturday's game took place at the Toyota Center in Houston as will game two of the series on Tuesday night.

Losing to the Rockets in Houston isn't exactly a big surprise for any team this year but if the Mavericks go down 2-0, they could find themselves in real trouble early in the play-offs.

With the chance of a series against the current champion San Antonio Spurs or LA Clippers in the Conference semi-finals, the battle for Texas is sure to heat up over the coming games.
