Players from both Manchester sides put rivalries to one side and enjoyed a night out together on Sunday night, dining at Italian restaurant San Carlo.
Manchester United's Argentine stars Angel Di Maria and Marcus Rojo were joined by Manchester City's Willy Caballero, Pablo Zabaleta and Martin Demichelis, whilst United's Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes also tagged along.
Friends off the pitch
Whilst they are enemies off the pitch, the Argentine contingent are friends off the pitch, and enjoyed the relaxing meal in the aftermath of United's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea. A low strike from Belgian winger Eden Hazard handed victory to Jose Mourinho's men, who increased their lead at the top of the table to ten points.
Di Maria had to settle for another cameo appearance in the game, coming on in the 70th minute. The Argentine international failed to make a difference however, and the result meant United have now lost two of their last six games.
City fortunes
Meanwhile City's host of stars would have been celebrating a comprehensive 2-0 win against West Ham, which helped their push for a Champions League place.
Not present was Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero, who celebrated the second goal after a bizzare own goal from James Collins. The South American stars were in the restaurant, a favourite amongst Manchester's footballers, until the early hours of Monday morning before setting off with their partners.
Last week it was a different story as United claimed victory as the city’s two top teams met in the Manchester derby, but the night out showed that the competitive footballers can put their rivalries aside.
