WWE: What next for Roman Reigns?

Football News

Earlier this month the WWE Universe was expecting Roman Reigns to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 31 against Brock Lesnar and it looked to be heading that way after Reigns survived a brutal onslaught and seemed to have the match won.

Cue Seth Rollins, who scuppered his plans and cashed in the Money in the Bank contract to become the new champion, leaving Reigns disappointed but the majority of fans glad that Reigns didn’t win.

It’s no secret the WWE were building Reigns up to be the next big thing in the WWE and he probably still will be, but his chase for the championship has hit a stumbling block in the form of The Big Show and he’ll now face a tougher task to win the fans around again before challenging the champion and potentially dethroning him.

The WWE probably haven’t lost total faith in Reigns just yet, he’s still improving but he needs a slow build to become the champion, another rushed journey will only make his once faithful fans hate him even more.

There are superstars there that could not only help Reigns in getting the best out of him, but feuds which fans would want to see and could help build Reigns as a champion in the near future.

Even though the likelihood is that we’ll see Kane and Roman Reigns go at it again, the WWE need to avoid continuing to feed Roman Reigns vs. The Big Show and Roman Reigns vs. Kane down our throats, it does him absolutely no favours and if they continue down that route then they only have themselves to blame if the boos continue.

Sheamus has returned at a perfect time as a heel, a new look, a new attitude, while Reigns is looking to get back into title contention. Sheamus won’t settle with sticking around in the mid-card and going up against Reigns could be a good way for both men to look like genuine contenders once more.

He has an aggressive style, it won’t be a slow match and considering Sheamus is receiving negative reactions on a weekly basis as a heel, it could be a way to get fans back on Reigns’ side.

To make this happen I don’t think either man really needs to be a face or a heel, they can stay as they are and act as if it’s a race to see which man gets to Seth Rollins first, in the end a triple threat is the ideal option and a likely outcome.

There is a risk that the fans will be very pro-Ambrose, which isn’t great news for Reigns, but the WWE could take the risk and allow the former Shield stable mates to face off as we can finally see what we’ve been missing out on from these two superstars.

It would benefit both, if a spot is on the line then matches between the two will continue to build them up as future contenders, which is what we expect from them. So far bad booking has resulted in Ambrose falling out of the title picture and the fans turning on Reigns, perhaps this feud could change the luck for both men.

Bray Wyatt is reportedly set to kick off his feud with Ryback very soon with a potential match at Payback looming, but this feud won’t exactly last until the summer, what the WWE should try to do is have Bray Wyatt target Reigns next.

Like every Wyatt feud, there’s always a risk. Wyatt always looks strong but fails at the final hurdle and a loss to Reigns would do him all harm and no good. At the same time, a loss for Roman Reigns means Bray Wyatt leapfrogs him as a contender for Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship and it would be a move that backfires.

But this feud could be very successful, if the WWE are favouring Roman Reigns at this stage then a victory over Bray Wyatt would be very convincing and another big name under his belt as he attempts to win over the fans and finally become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
