Rajon Rondo set to leave Dallas Mavericks

We begin with the NBA playoffs where things went from bad to worse for the Dallas Mavericks last night. The seventh seeds out West went 2-0 down in their series with the Houston Rockets after a 111-99 defeat. Rajon Rondo was benched for the entire second half by coach Rick Carlisle in a move that many believe signals the end of the point guard’s brief spell in Dallas. Other playoff action on the night saw the Washington Wizards beat the Raptors on the road, whilst LeBron James and Kyrie Irving put on a fourth quarter show as the Cavs saw off the Celtics to move two up in their series. Across to the NFL and the schedule for the 2015 season has been revealed. The reigning Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots, will kick off their season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. And finally, in the NHL, a triple overtime goal from Brent Seabrook gave the Chicago Blackhawks a 3-1 series lead over the Nashville Predators in last night’s playoff action.
