Real Madrid have just three days to guarantee the permanent signing of Javier Hernandez this summer before Manchester United open the market to other clubs interested in the Mexican striker.

According to Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, Los Blancos have already agreed a €20m fee for the Red Devils outcast, but need to complete the deal in principle in the next 72 hours to be assured of that price.

Hernandez has endured a relatively frustrating season-long loan spell at the Bernabeu, but is coming off the back of a memorable week after netting the winner against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final.

He followed that up with two goals in the 4-2 victory against Celta Vigo on Sunday, and now there's talk that Carlo Ancelotti wants to keep the 26-year-old in Spain.

According to Hernandez's agent the ball is very much in Real Madrid's court. If they accept by April 30th then there's nothing Manchester United can do to stop the player from leaving Old Trafford.

Fergie makes big Ronaldo claim

Sir Alex Ferguson says Cristiano Ronaldo's rapid rise to stardom represented the biggest improvement in any player he had during his time as Manchester United manager, and intimated his belief the Old Trafford hero is better than Lionel Messi.

The former Red Devils boss stated his belief that the Portuguese superstar would continue his ridiculously high goals-to-games ratio no matter what club he was playing for, whereas Messi's majestic brilliance could be restricted to Barcelona.

Van Gaal's Goodison Park confession

Louis van Gaal has admitted that his side's warm up wasn't right before Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Red Devils boss also revealed that his fellow Old Trafford coaches Ryan Giggs and Albert Stuivenberg had the same feeling about the players ahead of the lunchtime kick-off on Merseyside.

Doubts remain over Depay signing

Manchester United are losing ground in their attempts to sign PSV Eindhoven forward Memphis Depay this summer after Liverpool stormed ahead of their Premier League rivals in the race for the Eredivisie star's signature.

According to, the 21-year-old Holland international's representative held talks with Anfield officials over the weekend and is now seriously considering the offer on the table from the Reds.
