Juventus full-back Patrice Evra has insisted that teammate Carlos Tevez has Manchester United blood, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The duo, of course starred at Old Trafford together before the Argentine forward completed a controversial switch to the club's local rivals Manchester City.

Now, in Turin, Evra and Tevez are teammates once again and have enjoyed a fine season in Italy's elite division.

In fact, after winning the Serie A title, Juventus are on course to reaching the Champions League final after beating Spanish giants Real Madrid 2-1 on home soil last night.

Tevez proved the match-winner from the spot, and Evra has hailed the striker, claiming that he's a champion.

United blood

Speaking after last night's showdown, Evra stated: “Carlos Tevez like myself is United blood.

“He is a champion. He has had a fantastic year and we want to win the Champions League.

“He is a massive professional.

“Nobody expected us to get this far, it is 12 years since we got this far."

There's no doubt about it, during Tevez's stint at the Theatre of Dreams, he was loved by the Manchester United faithful after scoring a number of crucial goals between the years of 2007 and '09.

Now, though, United fans may well see things differently to Evra after Tevez's departure from the club in 2009. The striker, of course, went on to win the Premier League title with Manchester City before moving to Juventus in 2013.

In the balance

Evra and Tevez will no doubt be hoping to emulate Manchester United's European success of 2008, but there's a long way to go for them to do that just yet.

Despite last night's victory, Real Madrid, who are looking to make it to back-to-back Champions League finals, will still believe that they are in a great position to retain the trophy after Cristiano Ronaldo's away goal.

Juventus, though, will be determined to keep hold of their lead in the Bernabeu next week, but Tevez may well need to strike in Spain to give them a chance of progression. Evra, meanwhile, will look to stop former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in the Spanish capital.
