Angel di Maria would fit in at Bayern claims Dietmar Hamann

Football News

Former Germany international Dietmar Hamann has insisted that Manchester United midfielder Angel di Maria would be a good fit at German giants Bayern Munich.

As reported by, Hamann, who previously starred in the Premier League at the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool, believes that United's No.7 has failed to live up to expectations in his debut season on English soil.

In truth, Di Maria enjoyed a fine start to life at the Theatre of Dreams, but has endured a torrid time in recent months, failing to find top form, while often being left out of the starting XI under Louis van Gaal.

Bayern move?

And Hamann believes that Pep Guardiola should make a move for Manchester United's record signing.

"Di Maria would fit in well at Bayern," Hamann told Sky Sport News.

"The player obviously cost Manchester United a lot of money, but he has been unable to live up to the high expectations."

It's far from certain as to whether the Bavarians would be interested in a summer move for United's struggling winger, but he'd certainly prove a fine coup if he managed to rediscover the sensational form that made him such a star at Real Madrid.

At the end of the day, with the likes of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery approaching the latter stages of their careers, Di Maria may well be seen as an ideal replacement for either star.

Leaving Old Trafford

And, in truth, the United hierarchy may well be tempted to cut their losses on the Argentine ace. Let's be honest, despite a lightening start, things have turned sour under the guidance of Van Gaal.

He's clearly lost his confidence and his form doesn't look likely to return anytime soon. Of course, after spending so much money on his services, many at Old Trafford will be hoping that he gives it at least one more season before moving in.

No matter what happens this summer for the midfield ace, it looks set to be an interesting 2015/16 for the player, but will it be at Old Trafford?
