WWE: Former Cruiserweight superstar set for Raw return?

Football News

Tonight is the go home episode of Raw before Sunday's epic Payback pay-per-view and, given that only two matches have been officially announced for the event, tonight was already set to be a memorable night.

Things just ramped up a little though after one former WWE Superstar's comments.

Taking to Facebook in the run up to Monday Night Raw, the veteran claimed he was making a shock return on the show.

Former Cruiserweight Jimmy Wang Yang posted the following on Facebook earlier today:

Yang left WWE back in 2010 after it seemed the Cruiserweight division was over and the title itself had been retired. To date, he is yet to win a championship in the company and has since been wrestling on the independent circuit.

Fan or fighter?

This is the first time the superstar has made any comments on Social Media about a return to WWE in the last five years, but it would make sense if Yang was returning to WWE as a fan to watch tonight's show as well, because tonight's Raw comes live from Cincinnati, Ohio, located very close to the current residence of Jimmy, who currently lives in Southern Ohio.

Bret Hart and Sami Zayn made appearances on WWE TV last week because WWE was in Montreal Canada, and WWE could do the same with Wang Yang in his home town. Another theory, although unlikely, is that he could also be the superstar to answer what could be John Cena's final United States Championship Open Challenge.

This is all speculation as yet, and if WWE wanted it to be a surprise they wouldn't have allowed Yang to post on Facebook. But if it isn't it would allow the former superstar a huge ovation in his home town, for what is likely a one off occasion.

Big night

Even without the above news, tonight's Raw is set up to be a stand out night because it has already been announced that Tough Enough 2015 trainer and Intercontinental Champion Daniel Bryan will be at the Nationwide Arena. The WWE Universe will finally find out if the former World Champion will be stripped of two titles in the space of a year.

With Payback just six nights away there will also be a number of matches announced tonight, as well as the epic conclusion that should see either Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose or Seth Rollins finishing the night as the final man standing.
