Andre Ayew to secure free transfer away from Marseille

Andre Ayew has been a key part of Marseille's season and the Ligue 1 club now want to extend his contract. However, this is seemingly falling on deaf ears.

Ayew is expected to make a Premier League switch this summer, with a number of clubs credited with an interest in his signature. Roma are a club that are reported to be favourites to sign Ayew, although Liverpool, the club Ayew supports, along with Arsenal and Spurs are also linked.

Without a doubt, Ayew would be a fantastic addition to any team, and Marseille club president Vincent Labrune has given a clear indication that the player will move on in the coming transfer window.

"We can't keep Ayew. He is a very important player for OM [Marseille] but we can't offer him the kind of money English clubs can offer," he said, as reported by The Independent.

"The French financial system is complicated and we can't offer him an equivalent salary to what he can earn in England.

"And equally, we can't ask Ayew, who we love and is an icon of our team to accept a lower salary.

"That makes no sense so unfortunately he is going to quit the club and we hope that he has the great career that he deserves in England or somewhere else."

The 25-year-old nine goals and five assists to his name in Ligue 1 this season, an impressive tally for a player who has been deployed on the left side of a front three all season. Ayew also was the joint top goal scorer at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Ayew eventually received a runners-up medal after Ghana lost 9-8 on penalties in which the aforementioned player converted his spot kick.

Whoever picks Ayew up will have a real gem. He's a fantastic player and he hasn't even reached the height of his power. I think in England, Arsenal would be a good move as he'd be getting Champions League football and could provide something different up-front for Arsene Wenger.

He would fit in at Spurs and Liverpool also, however if Arsenal are interested, I expect the lure of top European football to be enough to tempt Ayew to the Emirates Stadium.

Where should Ayew go? Is he cut out for the Premier League? Let us know in the comments!
