Elimination Chamber returning as a WWE Network special

On the 31st of May 2015, live exclusively on the WWE Network, the previously-scrapped Pay-Per-View event, Elimination Chamber, will make a return.

Probably deployed as a means to retain WWE Network subscribers who signed up for a free month trial for the month of May, it will feature the namesake match stipulation, the Elimination Chamber match, amongst other clashes.

The Pay-Per-View originally took place in February of every year since 2010, as a filler Pay-Per-View between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. However, this year it was replaced by the first instalment of WWE Fastlane.

Despite this, WWE have been attempting a number of ways to boost Network subscriptions, from hosting very popular NXT Takeover specials, to bringing back King of the Ring 2 days after Extreme Rules.

And now the Elimination Chamber idea is being brought back by WWE. There's rumored to be two Elimination Chamber matches, although neither of them will feature the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Instead, the titles involved include the WWE Intercontinental Championship. This title was vacated by Daniel Bryan on the previous edition of Monday Night Raw, a title he had won at Wrestlemania 31. Unfortunately, injury problems have resulted in a lack of title defences and Bryan felt it was right to have an Intercontinental Champion who is able to defend the belt.

The other title to be defended is a more interesting concept, with the WWE Tag Team Championships rumoured to be defended by the champion. ,Whether it be The New Day or Tyson Kidd and Cesaro is yet to be seen as that will be decided in their 2 out of 3 falls match at Payback.

This has never been done before, and whether it be six different tag teams with both in pods, or three different tag teams in the pods, there are a number of possibilities and the chance to try something new. Regardless, there will likely be no WWE World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber match, and instead a 1-on-1 match is on the cards.
