WWE: NXT stars that need to appear on Raw

Ever since John Cena dethroned Rusev and captured the United States Championship, he’s started to bring back a little bit more relevance to the championship by defending it in open challenges on a weekly basis.

We’ve seen successfully defend his gold against the likes of Stardust, Bad News Barrett and recently he just edged out Neville after he was hit with the Red Arrow but Rusev interfered.

But since Cena started the open challenge, no opponent received a reaction quite like NXT superstar, Sami Zayn. Granted, it was in his home town of Montreal, Quebec and he was bound to receive a loud reaction especially when Hall of Famer Bret Hart was introducing him.

Regardless of where Monday Night Raw was being held, Sami Zayn would have received an immense reaction because of how popular he is and how popular NXT as a brand is.

This action and Zayn’s impressive performance on Raw means that fans who haven’t really paid much attention to NXT will want to tune in to NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable to see what the brand has to offer, and there are a number of superstars who should be given the opportunity Sami Zayn has had.

He has been around longer and probably deserves it, but there are still NXT superstars who could do with a little bit more exposure of challenging for the United States Championship and sharing the ring with the face of the WWE. It will introduce the WWE Universe to the NXT stars and if they already know who they are then they will have the luxury of watching them compete on a bigger platform.

Tyler Breeze has already competed on Monday Night Raw before, he teamed up with Tyson Kidd in a tag team match when they lost to the team of Neville and Sami Zayn last year, but the spotlight wasn’t on him as much as he’s used to and he’s proven to be a solid competitor on NXT.

He’s been involved in the title picture for just under a year now and he can mix it up with the best NXT has to offer, he has the chance to become the number one contender to the NXT Championship when he takes on Finn Bálor this week and it remains doubtful that he will win and take on the champion, who is expected to be Kevin Owens.

I don’t think Tyler Breeze will be NXT Champion, that’s not me saying he’s not for the skills or talent to do it, he’s one of the most talented guys on the roster. It’s just with superstars such as Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Finn Bálor and Hideo Itami, he will have quite a wait and there’s only so much left for him on NXT before he will be needed on the main roster.

He plays his character very well, and even though he’s a heel I think on the main roster he’s somebody the fans will get behind, and if he does ever answer the challenge set by John Cena then I believe the WWE Universe will appreciate what he brings to the table.

Baron Corbin is a little different compared to Tyler Breeze, not in terms of size and looks because they are at the opposite ends of the spectrum but Baron Corbin still has a lot more to offer on NXT than Tyler Breeze does, mainly because Corbin needs a little bit more improvement and I expect him to stay on NXT for a while longer.

He is NXT Championship material, when he improves his in-ring style and his microphone work he will definitely be elevated to the NXT Championship level but having him appear on the main roster isn’t a bad idea right now. It looks as if the hierarchy like Baron Corbin, he doesn’t lose many matches and is always looking impressive in his one-sided bouts so the faith is there, and I feel like Corbin is someone who can follow in the footsteps of Roman Reigns both in the positive and negative aspects but it depends on his age and how long it takes him to reach that top level.

It would be a good introduction for the WWE Universe, to see this imposing NXT figure make a one-off appearance on Raw would be good for Corbin as well as NXT as a whole as more fans would want to tune in to see what he has to offer.

This is a given, if Sami Zayn is ready to mix it up on the big stage then so is Kevin Owens. Kevin Owens has taken NXT by storm since his arrival and it’s no wonder why many predict him to be a future WWE World Heavyweight Champion, he’s just that good. He has a unique look about him he can definitely talk and he has a loyal fan base who will support him wherever he goes and if he makes a surprise appearance on Raw in the near the future, you can expect the crowd to explode.

He’s very talented in the ring, and the prospect of having the NXT Champion appear on Raw and take on the United States Champion is one fans would definitely enjoy. Having Kevin Owens appear on Raw and compete not only makes the fans want to tune in to NXT, but it will allow Owens to experience what it’s like to compete on a bigger stage, it shows he can match Sami Zayn who has already competed on Raw and it will show the WWE Universe that the NXT Champion is someone you can’t take lightly.

Taking on someone like John Cena would be great for Kevin Owens, he has plenty of time to reach that stage but a one off appearance will do him no harm in asserting his dominance early on in the main roster.

Finn Bálor has teased an appearance on Monday Night Raw for quite a while now, and rumours started to run wild when the WWE came to Europe and Raw was in London, but instead it was Bad News Barrett who answered John Cena’s challenge. Finn Bálor might not get the chance to become NXT Champion if Kevin Owens does in fact have a lengthy reign which has been rumoured, and the other rumour surrounding his WWE deal suggest he isn’t expected to remain on NXT for too long, so Bálor appearing on Raw might not be as far off as we think.

We know how good Bálor is, he brings his best to every single match and leaves the fans wanting more, he’s good on the microphone and is a likeable superstar who would add a great deal of excitement to the main roster and in a potential surprise appearance the crowd would erupt, especially if they are treated to the full demonic entrance which the NXT fans love and will be looking forward to this week.

Like many NXT stars, Finn Bálor is ready for the main roster, now we simply play the waiting game to see when it does eventually happen and how the crowd react.
