Chelsea to sell Oscar & Juan Cuadrado to fund Raheem Sterling bid

Chelsea are ready to sell Oscar and Juan Cuadrado this summer in order to finance a big offer for Raheem Sterling.

That is the claim of the Daily Star's chief football writer David Woods, who believes Jose Mourinho is determined to battle Manchester City and Arsenal for Sterling's signature.

Liverpool are being forced into selling their prized asset with the 20-year-old believed to have told the club that he wants to leave this summer.

A move to another Premier League club appears most likely with Manchester City and Arsenal the current favourites. However, Chelsea want to make sure they have the funds to match any offer coming out of the Etihad of the Emirates.

With Mourinho still bound by tight finances at Stamford Bridge, that means he would have to generate cash by selling some of his first-team stars.

Summer exit

That means the future of both Oscar and Cuadrado is in serious doubt with the two attacking midfielders the most likely to be up for offer this summer.

Cuadrado only signed for Chelsea in January, completing a £26m move from Fiorentina in a deal that also saw Mohamed Salah go the other way.

But the Colombian has stalled in west London and looks unable to cope with the heavy defensive demands that Mourinho puts on all of his players.

He has only started three games as a result and could face a quick return to Serie A for a significantly smaller fee.

Oscar started the season brightly but has been criticised for a lack of workrate since the turn of the new year.

Mourinho has said the past that he does not intended to sell the Brazil international but the same reports says a big offer would tempt the Special One into a sale.

Sterling wants London

Sterling would prefer a move to London over Manchester, returning to the city where he grew up. That has given Chelsea hope that they can beat City to what will surely be one of the biggest deals of the summer.

Liverpool rate Sterling at £50m, but with his contract situation well documented means they may be forced to accept less.

Should Chelsea sell two players to sign Sterling or stick with what they have?
