Gareth Bale wants to quit Real Madrid this summer

Gareth Bale is looking to leave Real Madrid this summer and Manchester United are ready to give him the perfect opportunity to do so, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

The daily publication claims that Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett held a meeting with Bernabeu officials, including president Florentino Perez, on Wednesday to discuss the Welshman's future.

Bale had a successful debut season at Real Madrid, scoring in both the Champions League and Copa del Rey finals to win a cup double.

However, with Los Blancos set to end the current campaign without a trophy, Bale has become something of a scapegoat amongst the Bernabeu faithful.

He has regularly been subjected to booing and has seen his poor performances slapped across the media whilst other's shortcomings have been relatively brushed over.

Ready to quit

It has been claimed that the 25-year-old wanted to stay at Real Madrid and try to make his dream move a success. Should he leave now, even for the same £86m that he arrived for, he would be considered another failed project under Perez.

But now it seems as if Bale is ready to pack his bags and head back to the country where he made his name. Only Manchester United would be able to absorb his £300,000-a-week wages and meet Real Madrid's €120m asking price.

Manchester United bound

Another report from British newspaper The Sun claimed that Louis van Gaal has told his assistant Ryan Giggs to try and coax Bale to Old Trafford.

Giggs is something of an idol to Bale, who grew up watching his compatriot winning countless trophies for the Red Devils.

Now an established star himself, Bale and Giggs are rumoured to have a good relationship after spending time together with the Welsh national team.

Good decision

Unfortunately, it seems as if Bale's future is being decided for him. Not only are the Real Madrid fans against him but it seems the media are too.

His abject performances in the Champions League hinted that all is not well and it seems a fresh start back in the Premier League would be best for his career.

Should Gareth Bale take the chance to join Manchester United or stay and fight at Real Madrid?
