Just when you thought the Raheem Sterling transfer saga couldn’t get any more bizarre the rumour-mill has churned out an incredible piece of gossip. Shock reports claim that the Red Devils have made a surprise enquiry for Sterling’s services, one that has been rejected without hesitation by Liverpool chiefs who still harbour hopes of keeping the youngster at Anfield. That’s Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and now United all having been strongly linked with a move for one of England’s most exciting rising stars. Red Devils fans will certainly now hope Van Gaal can return with a more lucrative proposal, even if it is just to see the look on the faces of their Liverpool-loving counterparts.
