Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal is set to join Arsenal this summer after Italian news source Calciomercatoweb claimed that the Chilean has agreed personal terms with the Gunners.

Vidal has been the subject of Premier League clubs’ interest for sometime, mainly being linked to Manchester United who had several bids turned down by Juventus last summer as well as in the January transfer window.

Daily Star reports Arsenal became aware of Vidal’s availability after The Old Lady rejected a £14.4 million bid from Liverpool and were told that they would be willing to do business if the fee is raised to £25 million.

Arsene Wenger quickly put this opportunity to good use and jumped the queue ahead of Liverpool to sign the talented midfielder. Arsenal has Vidal’s international teammate,Alexis Sanchez at their disposal and hence might not have to break much sweat as both Chilean share the same agent,Fernando Felicevich.

Vidal’s contract with Juventus runs till the summer of 2017 and although being valued around €42 million by, Arsenal can affirm he would be a bargain at £25 million.

Last summer,Juventus were reluctant to let go of the 28-year-old. As a result, they won the Scudetto for the fourth consecutive season this term and are also in the Champions League final against Barcelona to be played in Berlin on June 6,with Vidal playing pivotal roles in both competitions.

Let go

The Bianconeri’s are now ready to let go of Vidal as they are desperate to keep hold of Frenchman, Paul Pogba who himself is the subject of interest for a potential transfer to any top club across Europe.

A box-to-box midfielder, perfect for the The Gunners style-of-play and would add depth to a talented squad featuring the likes of Mesut Ozil,Santi Cazorla,Aaron Ramsey in midfielder.

Manager Massimiliano Allergi is already lining up a replacement in Tottenham’s Erik Lamela to succeed Vidal at the Turin based outfit, as reported by Standard.
