Alexis Sanchez has revealed Arsene Wenger has to curb his enthusiasm and stop him from training too much.
The Chilean has been a revelation in his first season in England since arriving from Barcelona for £35 million.
Described earlier in the year “like a Duracell battery” by teammate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sanchez has impressed in his goal-scoring, netting 24 times, as well as his relentless running in closing down opponents and chasing back when he loses the ball.
And speaking to BT Sport ahead of the FA Cup final, Sanchez said the Arsenal manager has to resist letting the 26-year-old do more in training.
“You learn from him every day. Sometimes we discuss about things like I would like to train more, and he doesn’t let me! But he definitely looks after me.”
FIRST TROPHY IN ENGLAND
Sanchez has played over 50 games this season and will meet up with his Chile teammates after the final to play in the Copa America in his native country.
But he is solely focussed on winning a trophy with Arsenal first.
“There is a joyful atmosphere in the dressing room. Arsenal is a magnificent club and I hope to win many titles here. I’m going to do my very best to help the club achieve success.”
The Arsenal forward has dazzled in front of goal and inspired by leading the way in the dirty side of the game, tracking back and working for the team.
But the former Udinese man is surprised by the tributes for that side of the game, adding: “Every time someone takes the ball off me I just want to win it back. That could work as a motivational tool for my teammates but I don’t think about that on the pitch.”
