Given the brutal nature of WWE, it comes as little surprise when any superstar suffers an injury of any kind, whether it is during a live programme or not.
This was unfortunately the case for Rusev who this week sustained an injury during the SmackDown taping while in a match with Ryback.
The Bulgarian Brute was due to take part in the Intercontinental Championship Title match at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event this coming Sunday, but the ankle injury he sustained has raised serious doubts over whether he will be able to take part.
In addition, a photo of Rusev which appears to show him in a wheelchair whilst holding crutches has been circulating the internet, possibly confirming both his and the company's fears.
With Elimination Chamber just three days away, WWE obviously have to think fast about not only who will replace Rusev but how they will work in his replacement, too.
It is not yet known how long he could be out for with some reports even suggesting that he is planning on still making an appearance at the pay-per-view event in Memphis on May 31.
Should he not be fit to take part however, there are rumours of Bray Wyatt being worked in as the person to take his place.
Wyatt is an interesting but understandable choice given his current level on the roster. His last feud was with Ryback who also happens to be in the Intercontinental Championship Title match.
The mysterious WWE superstar could however also merely be used as a replacement for the match just to make up the numbers as neither Rusev nor Ryback were suggested as favourites to win, although it would be a huge surprise if Wyatt was involved and beat the current favourite; Sheamus.

In addition, what is also interesting to note is the ankle injury which Wyatt sustained prior to his WrestleMania XXXI match with the Undertaker earlier this year.
While many were concerned Wyatt would not be able to face The Dead Man because of the injury, but he was able to battle through it. For Rusev this time around however, as no one is quite sure of the extent of his injury, there is no clear indication as to how much time he will need off.
Rusev's injury could well be a blessing in the long term for Wyatt as, if Rusev is out for longer than first thought, his on-going feud with Dolph Ziggler and Lana will have to be put on hold.
This would open up a huge segment within WWE which could well possibly be filled with something involving Wyatt, who still has a huge amount of potential which WWE do not seem to be showing.
