Arsene Wenger identifies a new defensive-midfield target

What would a summer transfer window be without Arsenal finding themselves linked with Geoffrey Kondogbia? Well it wouldn’t be a very good transfer window at all now, would it. Reports in today’s edition of the Daily Telegraph, citing news from Italy, claim that the Gunners are set to participate in a bidding war with Inter Milan for Kondogbia’s services as Monaco are keen to cash in on him...providing the offer is right. The French midfielder signed for the Ligue 1 giants for €20m in 2013 and still has three years remaining on his contract, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be moving on. Arsenal have Francis Coquelin to protect the back four at the moment, but Wenger is thought to want more competition. Elsewhere Nacho Monreal has confirmed he doesn’t want to leave, despite being linked with Athletic Bilbao. The Spaniard said he wanted to remain a Gunner, and hopes Wenger will offer him a new deal.
