John Carver and Steve Stone departures a good thing for Newcastle

John Carver and Steve Stone have left Newcastle United, I'm sure you're all aware of this by now, but there has been a mixed reaction to the departures of these two long serving coaches. I think it's a very good thing that they have left, because there is now the opportunity to rebuild the club completely, starting with the coaching staff.

Carver took temporary charge of the Magpies in January of this year. He took charge while Newcastle were in the top half of the table but he somehow managed to get them dragged into a relegation scrap, which they only survived by the skin of their teeth.

John Carver and his assistant Steve Stone were the reason behind this in my eyes, they had no managerial experience and it seemed that years of working under some of the greats didn't help them at all. They failed, therefore they deserved to have been sacked.

Newcastle fans are largely happy and in agreement with me over this, however some of them say that Carver and Stone should have been kept on. Carver especially because of his love for the club, but I say no. No other manager in the world would be kept on in some other role after they nearly relegate the club, just because they support that club. It wouldn't happen, so why should it happen at Newcastle?

Newcastle need a complete revamp of the whole system at the club. Although Steve McClaren may not be the best man to lead this change, he is at least something different and will bring his own staff, ideas and man power to lead Newcastle in a different direction, hopefully upwards. This is what is needed at Newcastle and for once the club's hierarchy have made a good decision in getting rid of these two.

Funds needed

They now need to give McClaren the funds and the players to make sure that Newcastle continue this streak, and make sure that Newcastle are challenging for top ten and trying hard in the cups.

There have already been many different transfer rumours circulating, including links with Patrick Bamford and Marko van Ginkel. These transfers would all be fantastic additions to the Newcastle squad, and now is the perfect time for the club to show that they mean business and go out to buy these players.

Mike Ashley and Newcastle have done nothing so far to appease the Newcastle in fans considering their hatred for the cockney business tycoon. This needs to change and it needs to change now. Getting rid of Carver and Stone is the first step in a long road back to recovery for this great club, I just hope they do it right and get back to where they should be soon. Give the fans something to cheer for once, give them a new hero, give them a manager they can love, give them a trophy...
