This week NXT taped their next four shows which will air over the next month, and on an episode which will air in three weeks Sami Zayn had some bad news for the NXT Universe.

The episode will air in three weeks’ time and during his promo, the former NXT Champion claims that he will be unable to compete in in-ring action until 2016. This is due to the seriousness of his shoulder injury.

It’s common knowledge that he’s been dealing with a number of shoulder injuries and he’s not been 100% for a number of years now, and it looks as if the injuries have caught up with him and although he won’t be in action for the remainder of the year, it will benefit him in the long run.

He recently had surgery on his torn rotator cuff and surgery for this requires around three to six months of rehabilitation, this is the reason many believed Sami Zayn would be able to return to action around September or October, but this doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

In his promo he confirmed that he won’t be able to wrestle again in 2015, but there’s still a slight chance he may appear here and there but the wise decision would be to keep him off television until the night of his return to really make his return special.

In the same promo, he confirmed that he would be better than ever when he returns and he made his intentions clear, that he will target Kevin Owens. Zayn's comments suggest he will return as part of the main roster. He was expected to move to the main roster before his injury and the fact that he’s chasing Owens means he will return to the main roster to take him out.

There are a number of possibilities for Zayn’s return and ways to get the maximum impact from it. One would be to keep him off television for good for the remainder of the year so he’s almost a forgotten memory whilst Kevin Owens is dominating on the main roster.

A Royal Rumble return would probably work out the best if he is ready for January of 2016, and to eliminate Kevin Owens from the Rumble and set up a third match between the two for WrestleMania 32 would surely get the fans excited.

Although his injury is sad news for NXT fans, his recovery is most important and we can all look forward to see him doing his best work when he returns next year.
