Thierry Henry has continued to reveal his admiration for the current crop of Arsenal players, this time choosing to heap praise upon Mesut Ozil, who he has described as 'amazing'.

In another interview conducted by the former striker he explains the influence that the German international has imposed upon the team, stating that it is bringing about a winning formula at Arsenal.

When Arsene Wenger blew apart Arsenal's transfer record to attain Ozil from Real Madrid for an astonishing £42million, he not only eclipsed the previous club record paid for a player by almost three-fold, but signalled the start of a new era of spending at the Emirates that would take Gunners fans by complete surprise.

Arriving on transfer deadline day 2013, Ozil remains the third most expensive signing in the history of British football but after a bright start to his Arsenal career he looked worth every penny.

Magnificent displays of his attacking ability on the ball resulted in three goals from his first seven games. He was the player Arsenal had been crying out for. However, that form couldn't be sustained and has largely been indifferent since then.

Yet since returning from a lengthy injury lay-off earlier this year, Ozil has been back to his breathtaking best and was instrumental in Arsenal winning last month's FA Cup final.

forthcoming praise

Speaking on Arsenal's official website, Henry said: “He is an amazing player. When he is on song like he was in the FA Cup final, he is difficult to stop.

He also gave a mention to the influence that Ozil possesses over the team, highlighting his awareness of what is happening on the pitch as an exemplary feature to his game.

“When you have the likes of Giroud in the box, Alexis Sanchez running at people and Theo too, Mesut can see a pass and control the game in the same way that Santi does," the Frenchman continued.

“Mesut is a very good player, we all know about his quality, we all know about what he has done in the game.

“He is a world champion, you have to respect that and his vision on the pitch is tremendous."

The problem solver?

Despite winning the FA Cup consecutively for the last two seasons, Arsenal remain on a barren run when it comes to the Premier League. They haven't topped the league since 2004 when Henry was part of the infamous 'Invincibles' team which went unbeaten throughout that season's 38-game campaign.

However, Henry feels that players of Ozil's calibre will draw Arsenal towards winning the title again, but does admit that they will need to sustain their form in order to do so.

“I keep on mentioning players, all that we are waiting on is the consistency in the league.

“I saw some of the players talking about that consistency, and I know they have the quality to do it.”
