Cristiano Ronaldo has cut his holiday short in order to persuade Sergio Ramos not to leave Real Madrid according to reports.

The Spanish defender is said to be seeking a move away from the Bernabeu and has been heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United this summer.

Ramos has two years left on his contract in Madrid and the latest batch of reports suggesting that the Red Devils have made a second offer for his services worth €60 million after an initial bid worth around £32 million was rejected.

Manchester United fans are likely to be less than impressed that their former player has been trying to block the deal from happening. According to Spanish newspaper AS Ronaldo called Ramos during his post-season break in Miami, urging him not to head to Old Trafford.

The latest reports from Spain suggest that Real Madrid are growing increasingly concerned that Ramos won't change his mind and has a heart set on a switch to Manchester United.

The 29-year-old is said to be unhappy that he hasn't been offered a new deal to extend his stay with Real Madrid, while there are also some concerns amongst the powers that be at Manchester United that he is using their genuine interest to get a new deal.

Secret talks

Los Blancos value Ramos at £65 million, while their interest in David de Gea further confuses the issue. The Spanish international has a year left to run on his contract with the Red Devils and hasn't turned down the offer of an extension.

Manchester United are seemingly willing to let him walk away for nothing next year - unless Real Madrid come up with a bid in excess of £32 million and make De Gea the most expensive 'keeper of all time.

Do Cristiano Ronaldo's actions mean he's no longer a Manchester United legend?
