WWE: What should Cesaro do during Tyson Kidd's injury lay-off?

Earlier this week Tyson Kidd had successful neck surgery and he is set to miss 14 months of in-ring action.

Kidd suffered the injury in a non-televised match against Samoa Joe, where he hit his Muscle Buster finishing move and has had surgery similar to the likes of Edge and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

It’s a huge blow to the roster as Tyson Kidd is one of the best wrestlers in the world and was performing really well in the tag team division alongside Cesaro.

Kidd’s injury doesn’t really bode well for Cesaro. He too has performed well alongside Tyson Kidd after his singles push didn’t really go anywhere and the WWE need to have plans in place for Cesaro so he doesn’t continue to fall down the ladder for 14 months.

The WWE don’t need to focus on a long term plan, right now they need to focus on getting Cesaro the next few months without him being a forgotten superstar before placing him in other plans, here are the things the WWE could and should consider.

This would be everyone’s first and most obvious choice but what are the chances of the WWE actually giving Cesaro a worthwhile push? He’s easily one of the greatest wrestlers in the WWE today and based on that alone he should be a top tier superstar.

But as we know, it takes a lot more than wrestling ability to make it to the top so any singles push for Cesaro will definitely not be in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture. Cesaro needs to enter a solid feud which doesn’t end in a matter of weeks, it needs to last a few months and whether that means being a contender for either the United States or Intercontinental Championship, then the WWE might need to pull that trigger for Cesaro’s sake.

Cesaro is a huge addition to the tag team division and that comes down to the chemistry he shared with Tyson Kidd, that and the fact that together they are the best pure wrestling team in the WWE, by far. The WWE could choose to keep Cesaro in the tag team division by turning to a short-term fix and that would be to find Cesaro a new partner.

It shouldn’t be full time. It would be good to see just how well Cesaro can adapt to a different partner and how much he could still offer to the tag team division. I don’t think Cesaro and his potential partner will ever be championship contenders but keeping him there would continue to make both Cesaro and the tag team division look strong. The WWE could also pull out with something completely different by teaming up with Natalya.

Sami Zayn is out until 2016. Hideo Itami is out of in-ring action for another four months. Kevin Owens is now a main roster star which means NXT is seriously lacking in star-power and Cesaro is no stranger to NXT. The last time he was down there he had a great feud and even better matches with Sami Zayn and maybe going down there again would be good for his character and his development over the coming year or so.

One feud which already stands out on NXT is a feud with Samoa Joe. He would also need a good feud if Kevin Owens is moving on and based on the way Tyson Kidd suffered his injury, there’s something there for the two to start a feud. They’re both big names in the WWE as well as having history on the independent scene so it’s something that could definitely work.

Kevin Owens is going for John Cena’s WWE United States Championship and the likelihood is he’ll drop the NXT Championship next week before claiming the gold. Kevin Owens needs to move on to a new opponent and Cesaro is in desperate need of one and the two are practically made for each other.

Again, it’s not something just thrown together. Cesaro and Owens have history and they have chemistry which is vital. It would be great for the independent marks who watched Kevin Steen and Claudio Castagnoli battle it out years ago and to have a fully-blown feud on a huge scale would show that the both of them have made it.

Throw the United States Championship in, and you have a winner and it keeps Cesaro relevant.

Whatever happens, the WWE need to make sure that Cesaro isn’t forgotten or simply lost in the pack, he’s simply too good for that.
