WWE The Beast In The East: preview and predictions

On July 4 the WWE Network will be live in Tokyo, Japan when the WWE hosts a super show at the Ryougoku Sumo Hall - named 'The Beast in the East'.

The event takes place next Saturday and a number of big name superstars are going to be at the event, most notably The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.

He last wrestled at the Sumo Hall back in 2007 when he dropped the IWGP Championship to Kurt Angle before embarking on a mixed martial arts career.

This is most definitely the strangest match-up that will take place on the night. Kofi Kingston is a good worker so it’s understandable because he is a safe worker who can pull off some impressive spots.

At the same time, Lesnar is brutal and the size difference means the fans will be treated to a mauling where Lesnar should throw Kofi around at will.

The return of Brock Lesnar has been a huge focus point and, considering he’s heading towards a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins at WWE Battleground, there is zero chance of Kofi Kingston coming out victorious, with or without the help of the New Day.

This isn’t a match fans should really be excited by, it’s still unclear why Diego was picked out of all of the superstars available on the WWE roster but there’s not a lot that can be done other than hoping Cesaro defeats Diego.

He will, there’s no reason for him to lose as he too will play a similar role to Brock Lesnar, putting on a good, strong showing for the Tokyo fans especially with The Swing in his arsenal.

A match we saw at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view and don’t expect the result to be any different here.

It would be a huge surprise to see a main roster championship change hands and considering Nikki Bella is in a lengthy run as champion, don’t expect her to drop the gold to Paige or Naomi but definitely expect to see them battle it out for the title again.

This should be an entertaining tag team match as two good teams are involved. The Lucha Dragons will obviously be the fan favourites here with their high-flying ability and ability to put on some good spots so they will be the favourites heading into the match.

The New Day continue to entertain, but with one of their members will face an impossible task against Brock Lesnar having all three members lose in one night does seem like a little bit of a stretch. But with fan favourites in The Lucha Dragons it’s hard to look past them.

The Japanese crowd will be red hot for the team of John Cena and Dolph Ziggler and that alone is enough to suggest Cena and Ziggler will walk out the winners in this match.

Kane being part of The Authority makes him an easy target for negativity and King Barrett is a heel also so the WWE are giving the Japanese audience a reason to boo.

Chris Jericho will also be competing on the super show where he takes on Neville and this is proving to be one of the more difficult matches to predict.

Jericho will get a good reaction as he’s making a rare appearance whilst Neville is new, fresh and exciting with an exciting style inside of the ring. Jericho wouldn’t hesitate to put over younger stars who are actually going places and Neville is under that category, I believe Neville will walk out the winner.

The match everyone wants to see. Kevin Owens defending his NXT Championship against Finn Bálor. Usually you would assume Kevin Owens will keep hold of his NXT Championship considering he very rarely loses and the fact that he’s working with John Cena, but this could be the night we finally crown a new NXT Champion.

If rumours are to be believed, Kevin Owens will dethrone John Cena for the United States Championship in the coming months which means Bálor is likely to defeat Owens and this will allow Owens to focus solely on the main roster while Bálor spearheads the NXT division as Sami Zayn and Hideo Itami recover from shoulder injuries.

It’s a perfect setting for the title change to take place. Finn Bálor made himself into a household name in Japan as Prince Devitt and as part of The Bullet Club, so it will be great to see him come full circle and become a champion in Japan.
